Build your own website with an AI assistant
Use Wheewise as the backend for a website you own: live vehicles, enquiries and test-drive requests, with no database of your own.
You can have a private website on your own domain, built by an AI assistant, with Wheewise as its backend: your live vehicles appear on it, and enquiries and test-drive requests from it arrive in your Leads. You host the site anywhere; there is no database to set up.
The quick way
- Connect an AI assistant with a token that has Allow changes on.
- Ask: "Use the build_private_website prompt for https://myshop.com", or describe the site you want (style, pages, framework).
- The assistant reads your shop, creates the site key, allows your website's address, builds the site and connects its forms. It will tell you how to run and publish it.
- Open your site, send a test enquiry, and check it appears under Leads in the dealer app.
Two different keys
| Key | Looks like | Where it lives | What it can do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Assistant token | wwd_… | Only in your assistant's settings. Never in a website. | Manage your shop through the MCP server, as far as its scope allows. |
| Site key | wws_… | In your website's code. It is safe there. | Read your published vehicles and send leads. Nothing else. |
Allow your website
A browser may use your site key only from websites you list. In Settings, AI assistant access, Your own website, enter each address exactly as in the browser bar, one per line, for example https://myshop.com. Add http://localhost:3000 while you build. Until a website is listed, browsers are refused. The assistant can do this for you with set_site_allowed_origins.
The list stops other websites' browsers from using your key. A script outside a browser can send any address, so the real protection is that the key can only read published listings and create leads, plus rate limits and a spam trap.
A starting point
A complete working site (vehicles, search, vehicle pages, enquiry and test-drive forms, no build step) is in the example folder on GitHub. Put your site key in config.js, allow its address, and open it.
What leads look like
- An enquiry carries name, phone, email, an optional message and optionally a vehicle.
- A test-drive request also carries the vehicle and the time the visitor would like. It shows a Test drive badge in Leads. It is a request; you confirm the time with the visitor yourself.
- You get a notification, up to five an hour; further leads are still saved.
